Travel Phuket

Phuket is more than just pristine, white sand beaches and lush, emerald jungle. Travelers can get a unique perspective of Phuket from the back of an elephant or on an ATV. Test your driving skills on a Go-Kart track, and go bungy jumping, diving or snorkeling — the list is almost endless.

Diving & Snorkeling

Phuket is renowned for awesome scuba diving, ranking among the top 10 destinations in the world. Spectacular reefs, unique and unusual underwater rock formations and a large variety of marine life present excellent opportunities for novices and experts alike. Diving excursions range from liveaboard and luxury diving cruises to simple day trips.

While diving isn't for everyone, snorkeling most certainly is, serving up tons of family fun for all ages. Throw on some fins, a mask and snorkel, and voila, you’re Jacques Cousteau. Try a romantic snorkeling tour, investigate the warm topaz waters of the local beaches, or venture out on a snorkeling trip in the nearby islands. Phi Phi Islands are legendary for their beauty, and under the water is no exception, with bright tropical fish and fragile coral. Other islands ideal for snorkeling are the Coral, Racha, and Khai Nok Islands, as well as the Similan Islands, renowned for their outstanding diving.

Surfing

Fairly new to Phuket's activities list, surfing has gained popularity in recent years as surfers discovered Thailand's west coast waves, best in the off-peak season from April to September. It is no Hawaii or Australia, but Phuket's surf is up and coming, with surfing competitions held at least a few times a year. Surfing in Phuket attracts locals and visitors from around the world who want to try their hand at conquering the mammoth waves.

Jet Skiing & Water Skiing

Beaches aren’t just for sunning and swimming. They're for parasailing, jet skiing, water skiing, windsurfing, kiteboarding, yachting ... and just about anything else you can think to do in the ocean. Rent a jet ski for an hour or a day - it's up to you. Take one of the kids parasailing or learn how to kiteboard for a super-cool adventure they (and you) will talk about for years to come. Or, teach someone special to sail on an easy-to-use Hobie Cat in tranquil, blue seas.

Elephant Trekking

Visiting tourists can experience Phuket in a truly Thai way — on an elephant. Get up close and personal with these gentle giants while enjoying the natural surroundings and breathtaking, panoramic views along Phuket’s mountain trails. Get a behind-the-scenes look at elephant training, and shake hands/trunks with young pachyderm trainees.

Horseback Riding

Have you ever dreamed of riding along a shimmering, snow-white beach or through the sea's frothy surf on horseback? If so, you'll want to check out Phuket's horseback riding excursions that take you through the lush, tropical jungle and along picture-perfect beaches. You can even take a few lessons in a dressage ring if you need to brush up on your skills, or are a less-experienced rider.

Mountain Biking

A great way to get away from the busy city streets, mountain biking in Phuket is loads of fun for the whole family — and doesn’t require Tour-de-France training and endurance. Knowledgeable, informative guides will take you through rubber plantations, fields of pineapples, cascading waterfalls, coconut groves and seaside to enjoy some of the best scenery in Phuket. Check out some of the local villages on your way through. Spend a day (or half of one) cycling around Phuket for an up-close-and-personal vacation experience. Golf

Phuket is home to some of the most challenging and picturesque golf courses in the world, built around natural canyons, abandoned tin mines and Phuket's famous hills. All boast panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, and each has its own distinct and unique flavor.

Some golf courses on Phuket rank as the best in Asia, and have hosted championships like the Johnnie Walker Classics and the Honda Invitational. What makes a round truly interesting is the indigenous wildlife you may encounter during your visit, including tortoises, iguanas, civet cats, and komodo dragons. The Phuket Country Club is definitely worth checking out.

Bungy Jumping

If there's an adrenaline junkie in your group, or you just want to try something wild and crazy, bungy jumping's a great way to get your fix for thrills. World Bungy Patong at Patong Beach claims Southern Thailand's highest bungy, while the Jungle Bungy Jump in Kathu exclaims, "It's the best fun you can have with your pants on!"

Jumpers hurtle more than 50 meters toward the aqua-hued Jungle Lagoon at the Jungle Bungy Jump, a former tin mine converted to give thrill-seekers a safe haven for their crazy habits.

Body Zorbing

If looking for less adrenalin and more fun, the body zorbing at Phuket Games Zone is sure to be an afternoon of silly fun. The also offer football golf and frisbee golf.

Go-Karts

The go-kart track at Patong Go-Kart Speedway is a great way to pit your driving skills against a challenging track and family members. Always a blast, especially in a double kart.

Phuket by ATV

Experienced and knowledgeable guides will lead you through Phuket's amazing countryside along natural paths and tracks away from the crowds. You'll drive through rubber plantations, lush, green forests, even rivers. You’ll also get to meet local workers and learn about the environment.
